Kite Ghana

Why is the project called Kite?

The founders of the project wanted a catchy and meaningful name in English, as English is spoken in official settings and in schools in Ghana. They decided on „Kite

The kite is a common bird of prey in Ghana with keen senses and swift reactions. It symbolises the IHM sisters' direct approach to tackling the difficult situation of disabled children in and around Offinso and helping to provide them with education and physiotherapeutic treatment.

The name is also a reference to
 kites of the man-made variety,
which children enjoy flying so much
when the winds are up. Just as
these kites dance freely in the wind,
 so also should disabled children
have the freedom to shape their own
 lives.
